Dear Friends,
We had rehearsed until midnight the night before then loaded in at
9:30am Friday morning for this corporate event at The Ranch. We were
playing for the TK1SC
Christmas party, an engineering and design firm with several offices in
California and Seattle. They bought out The Ranch for the afternoon to
have their celebration.
When I arrived the staff was still preparing for the festivities.
Alex was working FOH this afternoon. He's talking to Jed about sound
stuff. Jed connects the band's IEM rack into the sound system here.
Here's Alex looking over the FOH board. I think he's just bored.
The guests arrived by bus, four of them. It was a pretty big crowd.
There was food, drinks, a photo booth, and dance lessons.
Dev, our dance instructor has a few participants out on the floor before we start.
After the eats and after the dance lessons, we are almost ready to entertain.
I felt very festive in my red Scully shirt. I get to wear this shirt
only a couple of times a year, at Christmas and 4th of July.
Our dance instructor, Dev, is ready to lead our guests in the lesson they learned earlier, the Two Step Line Dance.
Yay! She has a few brave souls join her. The crowd started having more
fun once they finished eating and got a few adult beverages.
Jed sings something.
Yes, we have achieved the Electric Slide!
Soon the country music gives way to our rock and pop stuff so the mere mortals can join in the fun on the dance floor.
I think we took one quick break in the middle of our allotted noon to
three playing schedule. Johnny had moved to the other side of the stage
for balance.
As soon as we were done with our entertainment the big wigs got on stage
for some speechifying and some raffles. We had to wait until they were
done in order to strike the stage. No biggie. I had nowhere to go.
As I carried my basses to Big Betsy I noticed four of these really nice
Prevost carriages surrounding The Ranch ready to carry our guests back
to their hotel.
For a corporate gig it was pretty nice, fun enough. Next up on Saturday
is another corporate Christmas party at a local winery and on Sunday is
another Christmas Concert with The Country Club Band and featured
artists at a private residence, a house concert at our friends Rob and
Susan's place. Until then, thanks for looking!
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
