Downtown Disney 2/5/17

Hey boys and girls!

Yes, the KRB had a gig on Superbowl Sunday. Hal had a party planned so he didn't make the gig to play keys. So we adjusted our set list accordingly and let Art turn his guitar up a little bit. It was fun.

There is a higher level of security now at the entrances to Downtown Disney. It was a little more of an inconvenience to get in, but The Mouse is just trying to keep us safe. I can't complain.

Sean, owner of MxxMaster Sound was our guy again tonight. He's a great guy to work with. To his right was his young padawan, Michael, learning the ropes and taking care of stage crew duties.

We got to watch a lot of the game on the big screen outside the ESPN zone. Since I'm not a fan of either team I was just hoping for a good game. It did not disappoint.

I brought my usual "large" rig with my GK Neo 410, but my Carvin 210 would've been just fine with Sean's PA.

Sean and Michael had everything all set up and ready to go when we arrived. The whole band pretty much arrived at the same time, within 10 minutes of each other, so we do our simultaneous synchronized set-up dance.

Here's my amp-selfie while we sound check.

Here's a fuzzy picture of the stage and Sean's QSC PA system.

I brought snacks to share, fig bars and Dove chocolate.

Here's a few live action shots later in the evening.

For some sets the crowd would be really good, with dancers. Other sets, not so much. But we made the people happy.

Art and Daniel get tuned up for the last set.

Here's a collage that the sound guy, Sean, posted to Facebook. He posts about all the bands he mixes. Sometimes he and his crews will do a half dozen events in an evening.

And then it happened. The last weather report I'd heard said the rain would happen after midnight. About 9:30pm, just before the fireworks, a light mist started which increased to a drizzle and grew to a shower.

At first we thought it would pass. It stopped, it started again. We played one more and called it a night. We loaded out as the fireworks were going off.

We were scheduled to play until 10pm so we got off a half hour early, packed up in a hurry, and loaded out before we got too soaked. Sean was prepared and had brought a bunch of plastic trash bags to cover his speakers. The guy thinks ahead. It was a good night. Thanks for looking!

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
