To all my friends,
Last night the KRB played a 50th wedding anniversary party for a nice couple,
lots of family and friends. We've played several parties at the Sun and
Sail Club because Kelly's Mom lives there in the community. It's a nice
little clubhouse for an event. It was not a long haul from the parking
lot.
Here's Art unloading with the lake and fountain in the background.
Jack is running sound for us this evening. We're all doing the traditional "setup dance'.
We were packed into a fairly small space and the party used only half
the downstairs room. We all brount small rigs and Jack brought a small
PA.
The family had put up some nice decorations.
Soundcheck selfie!
Mario takes a picture of me as I take a picture of him. Boy do we like to have fun!
Jeff works on the intro to "Unforgettable", a song we worked up just for this party.
Here's our very minimal stage setup. Jeff didn't even bring an amp,
Mario has a small kit, Art has his little amp hiding behind his pedal
board case.
Daniel brought only his Behringer wedge for his fiddle.
My small rig. I did bring my Guild Pilot 5-string as a backup but it's in the hallway behind us.
Before we start I check out the bar.
It's kind of nice here next to the man-made lake.
Kelly, Jack, and Mario are waiting for downbeat.
Daniel helps Jeff configure his new keyboard workstation.
The guests of honor have arrived so it's on with the show!
Who is this handsome devil?
We get to partake of the vittles after our first hour long set. It was a
taco buffet, beef, pork, and chicken, with all the fixin's.
Frijoles, black beans, salads, chips, guacamole, chipotle, rice, it was a
great spread. I just made myself a huge taco salad and washed it down with a nice IPA.
After the sun went down everyone was ready to party!
That's Kelly's Mom singing a duet. Mom used to be quite active in musical theater.
There were lots of old photos around. I thought this one was really cute. Here was the happy couple on their wedding day fifty years ago.
And here they are today, partying with Kelly.
They were very gracious hosts and everyone had a great time. Here's
mother and daughter with friends doing a ten-step across the floor.
These folks danced and cajoled and had a fantastic time. It was a fun party.
We were done at 9pm, early night. It's a good thing. Somebody started
buying the band shots of 1800. I would have been in no shape had we gone
on much longer. Thanks for looking!
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
