Extron 6th Floor Event 4/21/15

Hello friends,

This past Tuesday our little trio played a corporate gig on the top floor of the Extron building in Anaheim. The Ranch is on the bottom floor and the sixth floor has a couple of event rooms, its own kitchen, and several other amenities.

I drove my trusty Astro van past the stage ramp where we usually load in and pulled around to the back of the building where the employee entrance and freight elevator were.

I brought a small rig (Randall RB2000 and Carvin Redline 210) since we were playing in a small room. I also had Jeff's keyboard still in my van from the weekend.

I rolled my gear upstairs to find Jack there with the PA all set up and ready to go. I tossed my gear on stage.

We played in the lobby outside of the larger ballroom. The main event was being held in the room behind us. This is the outer lobby where we played for the cocktail hour.

After our setup and sound check we went down a hallway a short way to our "green room".

Yes, there is a bridal suite and a separate apartment for special guests. Here's Kelly relaxing in the "green room"/bridal suite.

From the sixth floor we could see all of the Anaheim attractions, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Angel Stadium, the Honda Center, etc.

We were furnished a meal in the smaller of the two event rooms on the top floor. This room holds about 120. The big ballroom hold about 250.

Our baked chicken and vegetables in honey-Worcestershire sauce was excellent. They really know how to cook at The Ranch.

This is the larger ballroom decorated for an event hosted by Memorial Care, a local non-profit hospital in the area.

Jack took a quick glam shot just before we got started.

We played for an hour while the guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

The hour went by pretty quickly then we were ready to pack it up.

We hauled our stuff back down the freight elevator. Everything and everyone fit in one load.

We were loaded out and packed up, ready to drive home by 7:30 PM. Early night!

Here's a sampling of our easy-listening selections we played for the guests.

I know, I know. It's a cushy job. But somebody has to do it!

Saturday we are playing at the Pasadena Playhouse and then Monday night we are back at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Saloon for another private party. I'm really enjoying good gigs at good places with good people. Life is good.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
