Hello friends,
I thought I'd toss up a quick little gig report with me and the ANB (hereby to be known as ANCC
for "Arnie Newman's Country Club") playing at Downtown Disney again. We
were here just two weeks ago. But this is a good hang so we don't mind.
There was construction and road closures going on around the park
tonight. This made for a schlow schlog into the downtown district.
I arrived in plenty of time to roll my gear in from the nearest far reaches of the parking lot.
When I arrived most of the band was in place and the sound company, MxxMaster, was ready to go. Here are Daniel and Chris taking care of the sound and stage tonight.
Johnny Fingers is listening to one of our new tunes on his phones before we soundcheck.
After soundcheck it's on with the show. Actually this is probably the
third song of the evening when Amanda sings "Feel Like A Woman" that has
a long guitar intro. I take a few pictures here.
Jason keeps time on the intro. I don't come in until the second verse.
Can you spot the line dancers? They are there.
Rigs of Austin and Cliff. Austin had to set up in a hurry because he showed up about ten minutes before downbeat.
Here's the whole stage just after sunset.
Here's my sign-selfie.
Austin did a fabulous rendition of "Thinking Out Loud".
Arnie and Amanda did a fabulous rendition of Arnie and Amanda.
The golden boy does another one of his big hits.
We had a much better crowd this week than we did two weeks ago. The weather is starting to cool off.
The gracious Amanda joins me in a selfie.
We have our fun until the fireworks start up over the closed Rainforest
Cafe. I've heard that the Earl of Sandwich will reopen soon but I did
not hear the same about the AMC theater, the ESPN Zone, or the
Rainforest Cafe.
The food truck were there again and doing a brisk business. I didn't eat
tonight so, no food pictures. Sorry. But here's my load-out picture.
As the thunder from the fireworks fade I roll off into the employee
parking lot to load my trusty Astro van, make my way home, and fix
myself a large bowl of steaming oatmeal. Perhaps I should've taken a
picture of that? I loaded it up with sliced banana, dried cranberries,
walnuts, and diced apple. It was pretty hearty but not to heavy for a
late meal.
Tomorrow we are at the Viejas Casino in Alpina CA, east of San Diego, in the Lobby Bar in conjunction with the Hank Jr. concert in the park.
This is a 'no amp' and IEM gig. I love these kinds of gigs. John, not
so much. I'm sure we'll have our fun. I hope you have yours too. Please
continue to share your gigs. I like to watch.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
